    Dawn of Dynasty

Book Discussion, Reception & Signing with Frank Strauss

    Thursday, September 18th, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

With the imminent dismantling of fabled Yankee Stadium, a new book by Frank Strauss, Dawn of a Dynasty: The Incredible and Improbable Story of the 1947 New York Yankees, provides readers with a nostalgic look back at one of the most memorable seasons in the history of the legendary ballpark. Dawn of a Dynasty recalls the author’s memorable meeting with Babe Ruth and features the game-by-game exploits of the players who brought New York City its first post-war championship.

A graduate of Antioch College, Frank Strauss has spent over fifty years as a journalist and public relations director. Growing up in New York City as a rabid Yankee fan, he now divides his time between New York and Litchfield County.

A wine & cheese reception will follow the event.

Just One More Thing!

I admit it. I am an avid Columbo fan. Maybe junkie is a better word for it because if Columbo is on TV, I’m watching it even though I’ve seen every episode many, many times. But it’s easy to forget how many films and theatrical performances Peter Falk has been in. Films like: It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad WorldThe Princess Bride, Murder by Death, The In-Laws, Roomates, and many more. It was while working in Hartford for the Connecticut State Budget Bureau that Falk decided to quit his job, move to New York City, and focus on being an actor. His wild adventures, passion for life, and enduring sense of humor leap from the pages of his autobiography Just One More Thing. I highly recommend it. Each chapter is 2 to 6 pages. Read it while you’re waiting in line. Read it before bed. Read it during the commercials when Columbo is on TV.
